About Dr. Lackey
J. Taylor Lackey, MD, specializes in hand, upper extremity, peripheral nerve, and microvascular surgery.
Dr. Lackey is a native of Temple, TX. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, focusing on kinesiology and health, and graduated with the highest honors. He then attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, for medical school. He then completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Missouri—Kansas City. He obtained further sub-specialty fellowship training at the University of California, Irvine, in Hand, Upper Extremity, and Microsurgery.
Dr. Lackey is fellowship-trained in the latest Hand and Upper Extremity care advances. He has clinical expertise in the routine and complex care of the hand, upper extremity, and peripheral nerves. He is interested in peripheral nerve repair, nerve transfers, wrist arthroscopy, hand trauma in adults and children, congenital hand differences, and wide-awake surgery. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented at national Orthopedic and Hand Surgery conferences. Dr. Lackey has participated in international mission work, providing orthopaedic and hand surgery care abroad in the Dominican Republic.
As a Texas native, Dr. Lackey is pleased to serve the Austin, Texas, community. He is an avid hiker and rock climber and can frequently be seen on the trails surrounding Austin with his wife and dog. As a Texas Ex, Dr. Lackey is a die-hard Texas Longhorns sports fan. He enjoys live music and time on the lake.
