The patient  was started on IV antibiotic therapy. The on call  ATX Robotic surgeon was consulted and the patient was taken to the operating room for a robotic assisted appendectomy.

This video highlights the enlarged and inflamed appendix.  It is important to point out the 4K HD visualization that the surgeon has.  With this visualization the appendix can quickly be identified and all other structures (Bowel/blood vessels) can easily be identified and not injured.  This operation was completed in a total of 12 minutes with only 4 minutes needed on the davinci Xi console.  The patient was discharged 6 hours after surgery - walking and tolerating a diet.  He returned to clinic for examination and made a full recovery with minimal pain and no complications.
